It’s an intrinsic love and skill which has been part of each chapter of her life. 

Ann grew up in a home filled with beautiful art, with artists as family members who inspired and encouraged Ann to follow her artist’s heart. Art classes at school were her favourite. She was never afraid to create, which was evident in her first career as an elementary school teacher; her creativity brought the classroom alive with colour and texture. She inspired her students to be imaginative and brave. Even during her second career as a financial planner, she intuitively turned to coloured pencils to communicate concepts and possibilities to her clients. 

In all her homes, and through the years, Ann found the just-right spaces in which to paint.

She is just as happy at an easel propped on a kitchen table, in a bedroom corner, or on a river bank – believing that art can be created anywhere.

Early work with oils and a few watercolours soon led to acrylics; Ann’s preferred medium now.

ANN HAS BEEN INSPIRED BY MANY TALENTED ARTISTS WHO HAVE WHOLE-HEARTEDLY SHARED THEIR KNOWLEDGE THROUGH LESSONS, WORKSHOPS, AND MOMENTS SHARED WITH WINE.

These artists include: Doreen Borland, Bernie Major, Carla O’Connor, Janice Robertson, Alan Wylie, Brent Lynch, Mike Svob, David Langevin, and the late Robert Genn. And, a special nod to Bob McMurray!

Currently, Ann paints at her home studio and weekly in a barn, surrounded by horses, with artists who are valued friends. She also paints plein-air with a small group; it’s a time to be outdoors and work quickly in a loose, free approach that helps hone her techniques.   

HER WORK IS COLOURFUL, FREE-SPIRITED AND UNAFFECTED; SIMILAR TO ANN, WHOSE FRIENDS DESCRIBE HER AS: LOYAL, FUN, SMART, LEVEL, AND SOMETIMES A LITTLE CHEEKY.
